Community Literacy Through Archive Literacy Online Seminar

The Faculty Development Team in collaboration with the Department of Administrative Education successfully held an online seminar with the theme “Archive Literacy: Wins Too Much!”, Monday [26/08]. The online seminar which aims to explore the dynamics of the archivist profession and the importance of archives in daily life was attended by 1453 participants from 2702 applicants. The majority of participants are archivists, teachers, and civil servants.

The online seminar is held through a zoom meeting and takes place from 13.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB. The seminar which started by presenting the latest profile of the department was moderated directly by a young lecturer of Administrative Education, Yuliansah, M.Pd. This online seminar presents Dr. Sutirman, M.Pd., an academic who is concerned in the field of digital archive literacy, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Faculty of Economics, UNY, as well as a lecturer in the Department of Administrative Education as the first speaker. In this seminar, Dr. Sutirman, M.Pd, discussed a lot about archival literacy and its importance in everyday life.

In addition, Herman Sertyawan, M.Sc., a young expert archivist at UGM and an exemplary archivist at the national level was also present as the second speaker. Herman explained how the archivist profession can be a 'sexy' choice to choose from from time to time. Based on the evaluation form received by the committee, all participants claimed to have benefited from the activity and were interested in participating in other activities carried out by the development team and the Department of Administrative Education. Linggawati, an archivist in Sukabumi District, wrote, "It's time for us as Indonesian people to be aware of archives because archives are very important for life from birth until we die."
